The VI Nordic - Baltic Choral Festival Reykjavik 17 - 22 August 2010
UNITED VOICES
The Nordic - Baltic Choral Festival brings together amateur and professional choirs that represent the countries of the region.The total number of the participants is impressive, up to 1800 people.
The choirs will be singing:
-
Jointly – up to 1800 choir members together!
- In workshops, with the number of participants ranging from 100 – 700
- Individually, with 2 – 4 choirs performing at the same concert.
These three different approaches give the choirs the widest possible range, both musically and individually, to understand music and culture from different countries and to form a lasting friendship.
The choirs will be learning:
- At the joint rehearsals
- In the workshops
- By listening to other choirs
- There will be performances of 26 choral pieces at the final Festival Concert.
During the lunch-time and evening concerts there will be 16 – 18 hours of choral music presented. This does not include all the hours of singing during the afternoon of Reykjavik Culture Night. The festival´s aim is for its choirs to want to learn music from different countries.
The choirs will be communicating:
- Through their performances with each other and the public audiences
- With each other during rehearsal breaks and the Festival Club
- The music they have listened to or learned, to audiences world-wide
